Our Work  Training and Mentoring for PCTs

Training and Mentoring of PCTs

We have provided customised training and field mentoring programmes offering flexibility and adaptability, delivered by a training team with backgrounds in academic education, health education and operations. This has brought a combination of talent and skills to the training and mentoring of PCTs Community Matrons, Nurses, Therapists and Social Care Staff.

UnitedHealth UK have also extensive experience in the training of clinical care and field mentoring, to support the embedding of classroom skills. The staff who provide the training are experienced clinical leaders who have developed and implemented chronic disease management programmes. Additionally, they have many years of practical clinical experience and a realistic appreciation of the key issues and challenges that a healthcare workforce may face in the market.

Areas we have provided training in include:
  • Case Management for Community Matrons
  • Introduction to Clinical Skills : History Taking and Head to Toe Assessment
  • Field Mentoring for Community Matrons:

    • One to One mentoring or group
    • Telephonic mentoring.
    • Telephonic case conference discussions

Key Outcomes

  • Increased capability and engagement of the health and social care workforce which has helped to maximise resource efficiency, improves patient care and increases morale among the workforce
  • Identification of current skills and skill gaps, utilising a competency inventory approach, for example, in intensive case management, physical examination skills, medicines management
  • Facilitating new career pathways by up-skilling staff
  • It has helped commissioners and service managers to ensure consistency in quality of care and care pathways and optimised use of resources

“The first month (of our new service) was well supported by UnitedHealth UK with …training for all the new Community Matrons on the top to toe assessment followed up by a one to one visit to assess a new patient.”
